Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada
https://www.canada.ca/en/crown-indigenous-relations-northern-affairs.html

This is a website created by the government of Canada that offers a variety of information regarding Inuit, First Nations, and Métis peoples. Students can navigate through this site finding various information on topics such as Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, treaty agreements, and Indigenous contributions to the first World War, as well as much more.
It must be noted, however, that this is a website created by the government of Canada, not by Indigenous peoples themselves. While this site was made with good intentions, the relationship between Canada and Indigenous communities is filled with colonialism that exists even to this day. This is a great resource for students to start research inquiries. However, students should not rely solely on this website as it does not represent Indigenous perspectives on these topics.

Canadian War Museum
This website features a variety of historical information regarding Canada’s war efforts over the past century, including First Nation Soldiers. While this is by no means a comprehensive look into Indigenous involvment in Canada’s various wars, it is a useful starting point to spark curiosity and further research. It features a great spotlight on the commendable Corporal Francis Pegahmagabow.
Veterans Affairs Canada

This is another government resource focused on war veterans. For our purposes, this site has a whole section on Indigenous involvement in World War 1 & 2 and the Korean War. It features highlights of various Indigenous accomplishments throughout the wars, including a spotlight on Indigenous involvement in WWII. This is a fantastic resource to introduce students the history of participation in Canadian wars and would definitely spark interest for further research.
